He graduated from the University of Washington in 1927 with a degree in architecture. He and classmate Walter Wurdeman partnered with Charles F. Plummer after settling in Los Angeles in the early 1930s. The team worked on the Pan-Pacific Auditorium, leading to many other residential jobs, some of which were for celebrities like Robert Montgomery.
