Michel Chalhoub was born on 1931 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, France. Michel Chalhoub started a business licensing foreign brands in Damascus, Syria in 1955. The firm initially began with the rights to sell just three French brands, Christofle, Baccarat and Jean Patou. Today the Chalhoub Group, now based in Dubai and run by sons Anthony and Patrick, employs more than 12,000 people in 14 countries. The company runs a network of 650 retail stores with fashion and cosmetics lines including Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Christian Louboutin, across the Middle East.
