Before Fame

Alongside Nichole "Nicci" Gilbert and Monica "Mimi" Doby, she formed Brownstone in Los Angeles. The trio met while attending auditions around the city. Less than a year later, they were signed to Michael Jackson's MJJ label.

In 1995, Brownstone earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rhythm & Blues Vocal Performance for their single "If You Love Me."

Family Life

Her husband, Carsten "Soulshock" Schack, was a music Producer. Together they had a son named Nicolaj Hojer. She tragically died in February 2015 after falling onto broken glass. Her full name is Charmayne Maxena Maxwell.
