As a kid my grandfather told me to be a good 'storyteller,' "you gotta live, have experiences, adventures..." So I made that my mission. Over the past 20 years, Geoff as a filmmaker has 'lived' and collected a wealth of experiences.
He lived in a remote village in Tibet without translators or assistants, charged his camera with a gas generator, and shot a docudrama Call it Karma, that played at festivals around the world and was translated into 5 languages.
He also lived in a cave in China shooting images of the cave-dwelling culture. Geoff has also shot and directed in other locations around the globe including taking a small Russian freighter across the Atlantic ocean from Argentina to South Africa.
Geoff has also shot in Nigeria, the Arctic, Iran, Saudi Arabia and many more. He was a DP on Nat Geo's number one show Drugs Inc. and spent weeks with the LAPD, DEA, doing raids and arrests, and secretly meeting drug dealers and cartel members.
Geoff also shot for 2x Oscar-winning doc. Director Malcolm Clarke spending weeks in the downtown Eastside of Vancouver, interviewing drug addicts, prostitutes for their documentary about serial killer Robert Picton.
Geoff draws from his vast experience of ' shooting in the trenches' to create authentic scenes, with real dialogue that comes from something real, making his storytelling visceral and unique. His documentary background gives him the advantage of being able to research and form relationships with people from all walks of life.
Geoff is always willing to go the distance, as he has for a script he has recently optioned. To get the authenticity of an original screenplay Geoff wrote he traveled to Nigeria twice to research and spend time with the characters featured in his film.
